Prepare to start your own wedding coordinating/consulting business in only 10 weeks. This increasingly popular work-from-home career offers the flexibility and benefits of owning your own business.

The University of Tennessee’s Department of Professional and Personal Development (PPD) is offering the Wedding Coordinator Certificate course beginning Jan. 24 from 6:30-8:30 p.m.

The course will be taught at Farragut Middle School (room 274), 200 West End Ave. The course fee is $495.

The instructor is Lana Needham, former wedding coordinator and author of A Bride's Dream: The Perfect Wedding for Any Budget.

Certificate candidates are required to have at least 75 percent attendance and will have three years to complete the certificate program. Students not enrolled in the certificate program may also take the courses.

How to Direct A Wedding, a three-week course, is also required for students who want to earn the wedding coordinator certificate. Participants will receive a wedding planning book as well as handouts on etiquette, traditions, customs, and new directing techniques.

This course begins Feb. 12 at Farragut Middle School. The fee is $99.

Two other wedding courses will be offered in the winter term:

+ New! Wedding Planning: A Family Affair (Jan. 29 at Farragut Middle School, $49)

+ Guidelines for Churches & Wedding Facilities (March 11 at UT Morgan Hall, $49)
